KQKI 95.3 FM Is New Home for Nicholls Men's Basketball

THIBODAUX, La. The Nicholls Athletics department proudly announces today a new radio home for Colonel men's basketball. KQKI 95.3 FM has joined the Colonel Sports Radio Network, presented by your local Super Chevy Dealers, and will carry the team's full slate of regular season and postseason games.

"I'm very happy that we can partner with KQKI. We both jumped at the opportunity," said Mike Wagenheim, Nicholls Assistant Athletic Director for Communications. "It's going to be a fun ride with one of the most athletic teams here in years and a high-caliber schedule. It's great that Nicholls men's basketball will continue receiving coverage on a quality outlet."

KQKI, known as "Quickie Country," is based out of Morgan City. Its signal spans from New Iberia to Raceland and from Plaquemine to the Gulf.  KQKI is owned by Teche Broadcasting Corporation and has served the area for thirty-eight years as a strong pillar within the community. KQKI's programming includes country music and swamp pop, along with New Orleans Saints and high school football.

"We are very excited to be teaming up with Nicholls Athletics," says Julie Boyne, General Manager of Teche Broadcasting Corporation. "We look forward to the upcoming season, and also to building a relationship with the university and Colonels Athletics." Boyne also says she believes that coverage of the season is a "big win, and a great opportunity," for both the station and the university.

The first broadcast on KQKI comes on Monday night, when Nicholls opens the 2014-15 season at North Texas. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m., with the Colonel Countdown starting at 7:15 p.m. Fans can also listen on their mobile devices through the TuneIn app.
